February 8, 2025 Results

On Saturday, February 8, 2025, 283 middle school debaters from 14 schools competed in the CT Middle School Debate League’s tournament. They debated the motion: This House believes that carbon capture is essential to fighting climate change. 71 high school debaters and parents volunteered as judges, making the day possible. Results may be accessed on Tabroom.com under Results for CTMSDLFeb8. 13 teams from Irving A. Robbins in Farmington, The Whitby School in Greenwich, Middlebrook in Wilton, Central in Greenwich, Smith in Glastonbury, Bethel, Westfield Academy in West Hartford, and Timothy Edwards in South Windsor won all 3 of their rounds. Anaya Uttamchandani from Middlebrook in Wilton was the highest scoring speaker of the day.

Special thanks go to our indefatigable judges and coaches, and especially John Smith-Horn from Timothy Edwards in South Windsor and Cathy Emerick from Bethel. The CTMSDL’s next tournament will be held at Central Middle School in Greenwich on April 5, 2025.  The topic will be announced on February 15, 2025.
