October 19, 2019 Scrimmage Results

2019-20 Season begins with Scrimmage at Bethel

On Saturday, October 19, 2019, 185 Middle Schoolers from 15 schools combined into 65 teams to debate the motion: This House supports restitution of cultural objects.  The Proposition side prevailed in 59% of the rounds.  This was a scrimmage so teams and speakers were not ranked.
Huge thanks go to Bethel Middle School Coach Cathy Emerick and her crew of teachers, staff, and parents, for their wonderful hospitality.
We also appreciate the many High School debaters and parents came out to judge and time.
As always, we couldn’t pull off our events without the generous support of the Greenwich Branch of the English Speaking Union.  Thanks to President Natalie Pray and Director Robert Whitby for their attendance, encouragement and support.
Coaches, please email me if you are missing any ballots.
Our next event will be a tournament on Saturday, December 14, 2019 at Smith Middle School in Glastonbury, CT.  We’ll release the motion by November 1.
Remember you can find lots of information, including our Dues Form on our website: ctmsdebate.org.Please email me with questions and concerns.
Best, Jen
