April 6 Tournament Results
The CT Middle School Debate League held its final tournament of the season on Saturday, April 6, 2019 at Eastern Middle School. Huge thank yous go to our hosts Bruce Johnson and Colleen Kishore, the English Speaking Union, Greenwich Branch and Robert Whitby, ESU Director, for sponsoring the League, Everett Rutan for tabbing, and the many High School debaters, parents, teachers and coaches who judged and volunteered.
231 debaters in 84 teams from 21 schools debated the motion: This House would prohibit the development and implementation of human gene editing. Proposition won 52% of the debates.
Gayathri Kaimal, Katie May and Sean Thomas from Middlebrook Middle School in Wilton prevailed in the final round over Westfield Academy in West Hartford.
Dev Madhavani from Westfield Academy took the top speaker award.
