Yesterday, 172 debaters from 12 Middle Schools, combined into 30 Novice teams and 30 Open Level teams to debate the motion: This House believes that zoos do more harm than good.  This was a scrimmage for Novices and a Tournament for Open Level.

The Middlebrook team of Ganti & Kothandaraman & Wang won the Final Round on Proposition over the team of Shenoy, Jaladurgam & Rock, representing Irving A. Robbins Middle School.

Ryan Murray from Memorial Middle School was the first place Open Level speaker.

Winning all three of their Open Level debates were students from Middlebrook, Irving A. Robbins, and Memorial.

We had 49 people, including many High School debaters, judge and train to judge.

Motion for next Tournament

On Saturday, December 17, 2022 we’ll hold a tournament for Novice and Open Level debaters at Smith Middle School, Glastonbury.  Debaters should prepare both sides of the motion: 

This House believes that state lotteries do more harm than good.
